Cosplay meme - Stolen shamelessly from Sam

Sun Mar 8, 2009, 1:32 PM
  • Mood: Humor
  • Listening to: Okami Soundtrack
  • Reading: Life of Pi
  • Eating: My bottom lip
1. What was your first cosplay? (Think hard on this)
Including kiddie fancy dress things? I don't remember anytime I did that, as far as I know its only been an adult thing XD Oh no I tell a lie, Esmerelda from the Disney Hunchback of Notre Dame! I had a doll with musical tambourine and everythang :3

2. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
I second the Expo-clinging from Sam ^^ Flouncing around the house in character and being in public are completely different things- especially when you're not wearing as many fabric as you're used to >>;;;

3. What is your favourite cosplay?
Rhyme from The World Ends With You! Shes adorable! Plus I get to cling on to a brother and sound like I'm part of a herd of cows for a day :D Although Winry will always hold a place in my heart, seeing as I'll never find another appropriate occasion to hit people with my oversized wrench (now Vic signed) and wear purple overalls!

4. Which is your least favourite?
I got a Soubi from Loveless together, but it was so comparatively easy it was boring

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays? (Unless you're a closet cosplayer you can skip this one)
Rhyme got lots of attention, because it was part of a group and we all got love that day. Anna Kyoyama (Shaman King) got a few 'OMG ARE YOU ANNA?!' reactions which was quite gratifying ^^

6. How many have you done?
Properly speaking, in age order: Winry, Soubi, Anna, Sanzo and Rhyme. As well as a passable Tokyo Revelations!Fai I can knock up if I feel like it around the house

7. What are the top 5 on your list of "Want to Cosplay"?
In no particular order of preference..
1. Yuna (FF10) - When both I and my planned Tidus say we're both 'in shape' enough XD
2. Matsumoto Rangiku (Bleach) - Already in the works. Suffice to say my cleavage will never be the same again
3. Fai! But the monies and the layers and the coats T_T Lets go to Alaska to cosplay, yaaay!
4. Ichinomia Kantarou (Tactics) - The robes would be so pretty, and I'm not sure its a hugely mainstream series, so if I were recognised it would be ace
5. Uuuummm.. Riza Hawkeye (FMA) - Since shes blonde and a liddle bit badass

8. What female cosplay do you want to do most?
Nothing requiring flashing skin -_- I can deal with boobage, but Yuna wins because theres only a tiny bit of back for that

9. What male cosplay do you want to do most?
Uuumm.. I don't think alot about male ones, as the track record shows. Looking at Sam's answers though, I'd do a corresponding whatshisface to Shuichi given the chance- Hiro, thats the dude.

10. What do you prefer to do, make or buy your costumes?
Makemakemake! Unless its involves ALOT of sewing work, because then I have to resort to using a sewing machine thats so old that we have to get my nan over every time, to show us how to thread it up again T_T I like the hand aspect to it all, it suffices my creative stuffs

11. Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
A tie between May 2007 and October 2008. FMA fever versus the Guiness World Record Event and World Ends With You love!

12. Your dream cosplay?
If I toned up, ANYTHING would be a dream because I'd see it and do it without worrying!

13. Is there a pattern in your cosplays? If so, what? (Things like they have a certain personality, or hair colour)
Blondes!! I can't bear the thought of dying my hair because its blonde naturally and as such, absorbs anything that goes near it! The only thing I have wigs for, is to compensate for the shorter length 'dos

14. Your most recent cosplay?
The World Ends With You, Rhyme. Although I'm knocking together a Tiger Cub cosplay from The Night Watch novels/films because shes made of badassery win

15. What do you prefer? Cosplaying in a group or on your own?
Does it count if someone else takes the photo? *giggle* Groups all the way- it diffuses all the staring ;)

Big Weekend

Sun May 11, 2008, 1:29 PM

  • Listening to: Faithless, Darude, Steve Pearce...
  • Drinking: Water
So, I like most Maidstoners I know didn't get tickets for the Radio One Big Weekend ([link] for the uninitiated), and despite being a little disappointed I got over it quickly because of the 30 degree forecast and my somewhat disgusting temperament in the heat. I wouldn't see the bands I really wanted to see anyway, because I wasn't hardcore enough to queue for hours and wait from the crack of dawn.

However. In resigning myself to my fate I managed to discover that despite living 1 and a half miles away from the actual event I could hear everything in that was being broadcast in that park, in surprising clarity! I got to spend the whole weekend flicking from sitting on my windowsill, listening on the internet and watching the coverage on tv, picking and choosing my acts! All in the shady, liquid refreshed comfort of my own bedroom. Genius! Sure, since it was a weekend, people were mowing their lawns, helicopters kept going over and birds were chirping suspiciously loudly, but I was happier than I thought I'd be.

Then it hit 8:00pm. Boyohboy. Once everyone went inside, and the birdies went to sleep.. I may as well have been at the end of the road from the park.

(recorded on my phone, recording properly seemed a little extreme but for a rough idea this is enough)

I could hear the DJ talking, hear when they were announcing the next acts, the names of the DJs, the crowds screaming on demand- it was pretty cool. Because it was time for the dance/club music to also start, I was also able to completely reap the benefits of: cooling my room with all windows wide open, wearing what ever I want, dance and still talk to my friends on the internet. NOTHING would substitute actually being in the crowd I'm positive, but as a compromise, I think it suited me to the ground! Well, windowledge technically..

Both Saturday and Sunday, I got the benefits of having 3 hours of amazingly mixed music a stones throw down the road.

I wake up this morning and in addition to snowing all night, it continues to snow.

What am I studying at the moment? Hmm lemme see, the pretty awesomeness of ICE AND SNOW.

BOOHYAH.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go outside and make icebergs. Lots of mini icebergs and some compacted layers of tinted ice :D

Hope its snowing where you are ^^

Deconstruction Reconstruction

Nothing since the 2nd January? O_o I HAVE been busy!

Okay, so university is probably a moderately high ranking reason to not be around for a while but um..I'm back! For a while anyway. I have about 3 weeks like of actual making time in the studio for Final Major Project (FMP --> Full Metal Panic XD I like to refer to this now as Final Major Panic, because I'm obviously very organised like that) so after that its all downhill at breakneck speed.

I MUST post some of the kooky things I've done in projects this course. Highlights include drizzling paint on Lego, melting polystyrene with a hairdryer and displaying knitted representations of female body parts to the accompaniment of soundtrack. I'm so very glad I'm not in the main bulk of the studio, then people might think I'm weird :3 As it is I get to lord over everyone else from the balcony, but thats another story entirely.

So, run down of three months in 7 bullet points?
- Still nobody wants to employ me
- I passed my driving test with 6 minors
- 2 gastro bugs- no easter sunday meal OR chocolate for nicola
- I finished my Genjo Sanzo cosplay for May- including all the gun, sutra, fan and chest plate. The crown would blatantly fall off every 2 seconds. Hopefully meeting up with a Saiyuki Reload group too XD
- Have learnt fabulous array of foul insults but would only ever use them is severely inebriated
- Developed fatal weakness for digestive biscuits
- Decided to take Gap Year after course ends
- Was coerced into buying a DSLite *sigh*

Rather average in all. Woooah, I'd completely forgot what it was like to post anything in broad anime appeal. 1 minute 2 seconds after posting produced 1 fave, 2 comments and 20 views.. whaa? How does that work?

But now I'm going to retire to bed with my leftover half glass of parental anniversary champagne- at least theres some benefit for me in this achievement!
